Oh, and things don’t look too good for the proposed Jinx spinoff. More films Batman Begins: More about the batsuit and the American press’s distress than more American actors weren’t cast. (Dark Horizons) Casshern: Jo Blo has more info on the film (“This might be the next Matrix!”), its trailer having come out earlier in the week. Chronicles of Riddick: Jo Blo has more spoilers, although I think they’re the same set we reported previously. Daredevil 2: Looks like the Guillermo del Toro/”Born Again” rumor is just that. If there were any doubt, take it from Ben Affleck: “You'll know when my career is really on the slide when I start resurrecting the franchise.” (IGN) Deenie: Judy Blume and her son have struck up a film deal with Disney to start producing films based on her books. (Movieweb) Fast and the Furious 3: Gonna be one. Ask me if I care. (Cinema Confidential) The Grudge: Smilin’ Jack Ruby is on part 3 of his set report. (CHUD) Hairspray: Like The Producers, Hairspray will go the movie/musical/movie remake route. (Empire Online) The Hobbit: Peter Jackson foresees a good couple of years of legal wrangling over the rights (New Line has production rights, while MGM has distribution—don’t ask), but he’s cool with that because he’s got King Kong to fool with until they’re done. (IGN) The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe: Nicole Kidman’s kids have convinced her to sign on as the White Witch, in hopes of getting to be extras. (CHUD) Logan’s Run: Bryan Singer will do the remake honors with his X2 production designer Guy Dyas. (Jo Blo) The New World: Terrence Malick has dumped Che (for the time being, despite Benicio Del Toro, Franka Potente, Javier Bardem, Benjamin Bratt, and Ryan Gosling already being on board) for a less rigorous shoot in Virginia with Colin Farrell as John Smith. Yes, Pocahontas will be involved. Yes, Farrell will probably nail whoever plays her. Any other questions? (IGN) Sex and the City: There won’t be a movie, mostly because of salary disputes. (Jo Blo) The Six Million Dollar Man: Jim Carrey has signed on. Director Todd Phillips says, “No, he's not going to be The Six Billion Dollar Man. He's not that great." (USAToday) The Thing 2: John Carpenter says he has “a great story for Part 2,” as well as an idea for another Halloween. Sigh. (Moviehole) Reviews (Here be spoilers!) Parting shot JournalFen: FW Fairytales Highlights from wankprophet’s rant on fans whinging about J.K. Rowling’s latest interview: ** But this has been going on forever. It gives me a happy yummy feeling to think that at some point in Renaissance England, a broadside hung on the side of The Globe and people wrote their outraged reactions to Shakespeare's portrayal of Iago: Thou varlet, thou pig's snout whorehound of a playwright, thou hast no conception of how Iago's character shouldst be developed. Thou shouldst be hoist by thy own petard, thou retard. I envisioneth an Iago who is truly the hero of the perverse love quadrangle between Othello, Desdemona, Cassio and himself. My own fiction hath him doing teh_nasty with Othello as the vile Cassio rapeth that whore Desdemona. Doth thou not grasp that just because Burbage doth play a part that we liketh him not, only the character? ~ Yours, Ben "Benadryl" Jonson. omg, wtfucketh?!? How can Shakespeare write Iago out of the play like that? He doth so merely to spite his fans, the mad fool. Doth he not know that we are his customers, and the customer is always right?!? kthnxgbye ~ anon I careth not for Iago, but Shakespeare's Cassius hath a lean and hungry look. Doth he not know this turns us on, maketh us sploogeth in our pants? Why doth he persist in pretending that his villians are knaves and scoundrels? Why doth he bite his thumb at us? Well, I bite my merry widow at him! ~ Sir Honorus Persnickity -- "Well I bite my merry widow at him!" Splorfle!!! OMG I loveth thee so much! ~ Kit Marlowe When I write "The Life of King Henry the VIII", thou canst be sure I will place Iago therein and he shall be recognized for the true hero that he is. Fool Shakespeare hath lost my respect, and I shall perhaps not watch his new play, "The Tempest." Or, rather, I shall sit in the back of this here playhouse and groan and tell all others how I couldst write it better. ~ John Fletcher ** |
