Premise: A "supernatural love story is about a blind man who arrives in a new city, telling a story of having traveled across a desert after his death. The other city-dwellers have their own elaborate and remarkable tales of crossing into this strange world, from which inhabitants depart as mysteriously as they entered." (Cinema Confidential) Cave: Michael Steinberg, Tegan West (Cinescape) Unique: Michael Cooney will script from the soon-to-be-released graphic novel. Premise: “A man named Geoffries discovers that Earth has a similar, parallel world in another dimension. The world is closely linked to Earth, even having intangible emotions and feelings such as love as first sight. Geoffries is one of a few people who are born with the ability to travel between worlds. He finds himself the target of many enemies when he is chased for his powers.” David Goyer will direct. (Cinema Confidential) More films Alexander: …starts filming in Thailand this week. (Coming Soon) Birth of the Pink Panther: Pon-Ton was a joke Steve Martin made; he’s late delivering the rewrite, says DarkHorizons, and wanted to “deflect attention from negotiations with both Jackie Chan and Chow Yun-Fat for the role of Cato.” Class Action: Niki Caro (Whale Rider) will direct a fictionalized account of “the first major successful sexual harrassment prosecution in the U.S. The book Class Action centered on Lori Jenson, who took a job at a Minnesota iron mine in 1975. She and other female miners endured harassment from male co-workers, ranging from verbal taunts to pornographic graffiti and worse. Jenson eventually filed suit in 1984 and won a landmark legal decision.” (Coming Soon) Dirty Little Secret: Matthew McConaughey will star and produce. Elisa Bell will script the project, which is “Loosely inspired by the Julie Tilsner book Attack of the Toddlers" and “looks at the lives of a hip, successful couple overwhelmed by the arrival of their first child. Tensions build between them as they leave high society to enter the world of baby-proofers, nannies and preschool waiting lists.” (Coming Soon) His Dark Materials: Not strictly movie-related, but since a movie version is in the works, fans of the books might be interested to see pictures of the London stage production with Timothy Dalton, who could well go on to play Lord Asriel in the movie version. And how are they handling the many animal characters on stage? Lion King puppet-style, of course. (Thanks to Susanne.) Kill Bill, Vol. 3: There might be one. (Moviehole) Kingdom of Heaven: Ridley Scott has been banned from filming in the former Grand Mosque of Córdoba, the Mezquita. (Moviehole) Tintin: Steven Spielberg may direct not one but three movies adapted from the comic. Dark Horizons has story details. Torque: Smilin’ Jack Ruby reports from the junket. The fact that star Martin Henderson says of his actorly motivation, “Yeah, 'look cool!' You know? When someone says, 'Ok, you're going to be an action hero,' you're like, 'Ok, I'll look tough. I'll look cool....,’” should tell you a lot about the tone of this movie. (CHUD) Reviews (Here be spoilers!) AICN: Hellboy Empire Movies: Win a Date with Tad Hamilton! Following a meeting at a Beverly Hills, Los Angeles hotel yesterday - which Jackson is not thought to have attended - the Thriller star's lawyers, accountants, bankers and managers said their client's finances were in order. Jackson's music manager Charles Koppelman commented the singer's finances were "just fine". However, he also added, whilst denying reports Jackson was experiencing troubles meeting payments for the lucrative Beatles back catalogue royalties, that "we discussed his assets" - and also confirmed his client was not going to lease his Neverland, California ranch, despite recently relocating to Beverly Hills. The sprawling Neverland property was raided by Santa Barbara police last November prior to Jackson being charged with seven counts of performing lewd or lascivious acts on a child under 14 and two counts of administering an 'intoxicating agent' - thought to be wine - to a child. Radical religious group the Nation Of Islam also played down reports of friction caused by their new unspecified involvement with Jackson following the charges being filed against him. Nation member Tony Muhammad, when asked what his role in the meeting was, replied, "Most of the people in the room were Jewish. This is not about any one religion." ** |

Subdirectory overhaul: I have finally gotten a clue and have started moving hundreds of pages to various subdirectories so that the site's easier to manage. The most important links have been corrected, but you're still very likely to hit one that's broken if you're going through old news stories. To help with that, our 404 page has now been redesigned as a site map/troubleshooter. Indices of all news pages will be up soon.
