| No, really. Not that your questions are stupid; we're just saying that we'll take all comers, as long as it's movie-related. And it's not that we know it all, by any means--rather, if we don't know the answer, we'll try to find someone who does. 9/30/02 (Answers updated 10/02/02) Q: Hey, what's that music in about the second half of the new Two Towers trailer? You know, in the battle scenes? Doesn't sound like the other movie or the rest of the trailer at all. Thought you might have an idea. -- powerpuff82 A: We didn't know, but TheOneRing.net did--it's apparently the main theme from Requiem for a Dream. Update: We had a few more questions about this one from readers who wanted to download the track. What we didn't realize is that it isn't just a track that happens to be "the main theme from Requiem for a Dream"--it's actually called "Requiem for a Dream (Main Theme)." You can find a reprise under the name "Cleaning the Apartment" as well. To answer a further question, the difference between this track and what you hear in the Towers trailer is that the music has been slightly sped up and a choral element added. Q: I saw Hannibal recently and I noticed that of all the ten most wanted, they focused on Hannibal and Osama bin Laden. When was this done and why didn't they focus in on someone else like that? -- Crazy Girl A: We asked Chris, the webmaster of Hannibal's Palace, about this one, and here's what he came up with: "I think she's talking about when Pazzi is looking on the computer for info on Hannibal's reward. I believe Osama bin Laden has been on the 10 Most Wanted List for his involvement in [other] terrorist bombings (but I can't remember exactly what). So the odds aren't like one in a million; more like one in ten. And I would think the filmmakers would want to play up the drama by putting a serial killer next to a terrorist, rather than another garden variety killer." In addition, Hannibal came out in February 2001, meaning it was filmed in 2000, so it's more of a freakish coincidence that's now more meaningful in hindsight. Q. Saw that Madonna trailer "Swept Away" about a week ago, and it reminded me--you know that song "What It Feels Like for a Girl?" Her husband Guy Ritchie directed that video so I guess it's movie-related. Who's the British actress in the dialogue sample? One of my friends thinks it might be Sadie Frost but we're not sure. -- (name not given) A. Heh, good question. We looked up "What It Feels Like for a Girl"--the Ritchie video--on the IMDB, and lo and behold, under "Movie Connections," it reports that the dialogue is sampled from a movie called The Cement Garden. The speaker is actress Charlotte Gainsbourg, who is British on her mother's side and French on her father's, and works in both languages. Q: What's the song at the end of the Pumpkin trailer? -- B.J. A: We've actually spent a couple of months now trying to puzzle this one out--Cleo noticed the song as well--and we still have no idea. Any clues from our readers? Update: Hey hey, we have an answer! Luiz writes: "Actually maybe I have an answer-- I think the song at the end of the Pumpkin video is 'Falling from Grace' by The Gentle Waves, an offshoot of Belle and Sebastian." Yay! |
